This book is getting really boring. Nothing is happening. Nothing has happened in awhile. Norway's life is boring. A is a jerk. I'm rapidly losing hope.

I give up. I cannot even slog through the final 25%. Where are the faetoren? That was the only slightly interesting part of this novel and they are nowhere to be found.

He won't even buy her some lousy boots? I really do not like this book. When I read a book, if the heroine develops romantic feelings for someone, I want to be able to identify with her feelings, understand them and maybe even share them a bit. I pretty much hate A. He has no redeeming qualities that I can see.

Aruen treats Nora even worse than Henry Higgins treated Eliza Doolittle. If they end up together, I will be angry. Nora deserves better.

I think that instead of bringing Pride and Prejudice with her and studying it, Pygmalion would have been more appropriate since this book is definitely shaping up to be a Pygmalion remake.

Finally she is going to start learning magic. This book has been rather tedious thus far. Nora bumming around like a peasant. The magician treating her like a pebble in his shoe. I hope it picks up soon. And if they fall in love, I will be annoyed because he is a chauvinist.

I understand that the names in this book are supposed to sound foreign since it takes place in an alternate universe, but I find all these weird names distracting. Every time I read the name Aruendiel I stumble over it and pause to practice saying several times.

Now I understand why the narrative was so choppy and disjointed up til now. In retrospect, it makes sense, as it is beginning to make sense to Nora.

It has been so long since I read something set in an imaginary land. I like it. I don't really care for the way certain scenes have been skimmed. The author seems to jump through happenings that would have been better to be described. For example, one moment she's talking to a guy, the next moment, we are told they are kissing. Really? How did they get there? What did Nora feel to lead to that?
