I have a weird sense of humor but here is my paraphrasing what happened to the Japanese officer after the Battle of Bloody Ridge:
"Thank you very much for coming to our rescue" "Oh, we understand. You're weak. I mean, you're super pale!" "... I have malaria. Most my men died!" "Yeah, whatever. I call someone has the lack of warrior spirit!"

I find it interesting this book was published in 1970 and there are subtle jabs to the Vietnam War. "US! DON'T! THE JAPANESE DID THIS!" Still, though, my mind is already blown. It is funny how we all keep on making the same mistakes over and over again. u.u
