Quilla is naive, someone who has been sequestered in her home for so long that she can't see the world and its dangers even when they're right in front of her / told to her. It's like living shut-away from the world has stopped her fight-or-flight instinct.

Exclamation points are something I try to use sparingly in my own work, so I'm always weirded out when they're used so liberally. I blame my highschool English teachers.
