A Grief of the Dead - 5/5

An absorbing, powerful tale. Perfect mix of surrealism and horror and drama. This was one of the longer stories in the collection, but I couldn’t put it down!

The Norwood Trouble - 4/5

Short, sweet, nasty. A great little story that I wish more of the stories in this collection were like. Reminded me of similar themes to The Rider.

The Strongest Obeah Woman of the World - 2.5/5

An interesting twist on a possession story, with intriguing prose. It was fine, but I wanted a little more horror. It felt too calm.

Flicker - 5/5

Eerie. Short. Pitch perfect prose. Loved this one. I would have loved a whole ass movie from this premise, but the succinct nature of it makes it stick in my mind even more.

Dark Home - 2.5/5

A good premise, but a little half-baked. Feels like a scene from the middle of a horror movie, but without the satisfying resolution of an ending.

Pressure - 3.5/5

Love that this was in second person. It’s short, simple, and brutal. Effective, but wish it had just a bit more meat. Solid enough!

The Aesthete - 1.5/5

Great flowing prose, but a premise that is too convoluted and ultimately boring. I wish this was better.

A well-written story, with a nice little supernatural element. I feel this one could have (and should have) been longer as I felt the intrigue could have been expanded on.

This was an eerie lyrical story, reminiscent of a fairy tale. Creepy and lasting. Loved it.

Invasion of the Baby Snatchers - 3.5/5

This story was great, well-written and compelling but the ending fell flat. Not sure I *got* it. I would definitely read more from this writer.
