"...was honestly mistaken, like a Flat Earther."
Flat Earthers existed in 1980?! :O Oh dear. Have they persisted since before Magellan's time?! XD

So far, BIG fan of Vivien Alcock. :) I suppose ugly TV movie covers often hide great stories, beloved by all.... there's a lesson for me, here. XD

I, of course, received the ALT. COVER for this ISBN, and it's beyond ugly - a still from the "Major TV Series" (are there ever minor TV series?! Argh.). I'll try not to look at it too closely - looks just like Cathy Geiss from 30Rock on the back cover! XD

It was very very fringe in 1980. More of a joke than anything else. Now it's part of the standard conspiracist package. Thank you, social media!

I desperately want to know if it started as a practical joke in a British pub in the late 70s or not. I have my suspicions. XD(If so, the original jokers might be keen to be forgotten...!) XD
