Despite being a utilitarian, Peter Singer is not completely lost. His opening chapter lays out a compelling case for why animals deserve equal moral consideration. The following chapter starts out by describing in gruesome detail some of the ways we experiment on nonhuman animals, and it’s rather disturbing. I had an easier time getting through Stephen King, perhaps since it’s rooted in fiction and not real life.
