This book is become erratic and spastic in its story telling very similarly to The Idiot. Bulgakov isn’t as gifted in this writing style as Dostoevsky, but his prose conveys much of the same anxieties along with a helping of “what-the-fuckness” that adds some unique flavor to the story.

His writing style is positively addictive. This book is so difficult to put down, the characters are constructed so charismatically, especially the antagonists, that you can feel as though you’re in apartment 50 on Sadovaya street listening to the devil explain his predicament.
So far this book has made me ponder an interesting question: why is it easier to believe in the devil than it is to believe in God?

The Pontius Pilate chapter has been incredible so far, Buffon and O’Conners translation of Bulgakov is absolutely immaculate.
