"I first heard men screaming while the old ship was still at sea. I was below deck at the bow, as far forward as anyone could get when it happened. It was the voices of horrified men screaming in panic and followed by the terrible noise of crushing metal being ripped apart and the rush of water. it was coming from outside the bow where there was only the sea"

I just finished reading the story about Joshua Slocum and his trip around the world. That was a really interesting story and now I want to read his book "Sailing alone around the world"

"Could there have been a crew of ghostly sailors aboard?" --- not likely. This story was very dumb. I think someone was scraping the bottom of the barrel for padding for this book. The ship didn't have a crew to start with, was secured the best it could be before it was caught in 3 hurricanes back to back. I'm a little surprised it didn't sink or that it didn't end up in oz with Dorothy but not that it was empty.

hmmm, lots of detail and not so much else. This is reading like the whatever ship, with all this detail about it plus what it carried left from whatever port and was never seen from again... next ship, same deal and on and on and on. I hope it gets better.
