Every time I read Chapter 32, I just want to slap Anita and tell her to grow up. She has one line in this chapter that really drives me nuts: She says to Asher, " 'I don't even get an hour to digest that you used vampire wiles on me.' " It's just so beyond childish; I hate it!

This story is one of my favorites in the series. It's the first one in which we see Anita with a court order of execution on a lycanthrope, and I love how she carries it out. :-)

My earlier attempt at sleep failed, so I've been reading the last few hours. I'm now at the banquet with Anita and crew. The wolves, who had been missing, just arrived. I think this is a good place to pause, so I'm going to try for sleep again. Hopefully this time I'll be successful: my eyes are burning.

I need to stop reading early tonight; my head hurts. :'( But I read to a good stopping point, at least. "They could call her Mother Gentle if they wanted to, but Mommy Dearest was a hell of a lot more accurate." (This is the last line of Chapter 29.)

I love this story, overall it's one of my series favorites. That said, the relationship stuff is somewhat tiring (especially when that relationship stuff involves Asher). I need a nap. I'll rejoin Anita, Jean-Claude and Asher in a bit.

All done! Loved as per usual. Anita helps RPIT catch the werewolf behind a series of gruesome murders. I love her execution of him. :) Jean-Claude became le sourdre de sang of his own bloodline. :) Musette and company then had to leave or else. Anita begins to accept the ardeur. Richard is drowning in rage and picked an awful time to find his backbone. But I loved the story anyway! :)

Everyone survived night one of Musette's visit, though not without harm. But Anita put a stop to it and now harm can no longer be done. Of them all, though, Asher remained unsafe. So Anita got out of the way enough to invite him to bed with Jean-Claude and her. :) Now she's passed out with Jason. Tomorrow I'll get to read about her doing police work while sick. :)

I love this story! It opens with one of my favorite first chapters: Anita talking of an animation job with a hitman, one not contracted for her. :) Then she raises a different zombie, using her own blood rather than a chicken's. Asher flies in, gives everyone a scare, informs Anita that Musette is in town early, and now they're at the Circus with Damian and Jason, about to go downstairs. :)
