I don't particularly like fan fiction. To me, it is tantamount to kidnapping a child to take him to the zoo, thinking the parent will appreciate this thoughtfulness. Who knows the characters better than the author himself? And to have someone else decide what a character would or would not do,..yeah, I don't like kidnappers or fan fic (even without checking out the link provided).

I like the idea of readers wanting to explore new stories within the same universe. Sometimes when I love a book, I don't want it to be over. I used to read books over and over because I wanted to keep the characters alive. So, that's how I view fanfic. I'd love to see what people would do with the Repatterning.
