Chris Aldrich Sounds like this has some interesting overlap with Hidalgo's "Why Information Grows" which I just finished... How is it so far?

HumanCurrent I really wanted to read Hidalgo too. Social Physics is good so far. The tone is a bit self-aggrandizing and that's distracting, but it's helping me understand agency from a socioeconomic standpoint. I've been having a dialogue with our next show guest, a finance prof (@dvespinosa) about how changes in the nature of our social bonds (such as the way we transfer wealth) and interactions have greater implications on our financial system and create pockets of inequality. This book has some good insight on that same subject:

"Without the obligations provided by strong social ties, capitalism often turns rapacious and politics turn poisonous. In our new hyperconnected world, most ties are weak, and all too often the invisible hand no longer functions ... Only when we understand how social interactions work together with competitive forces can we hope to ensure stability and fairness in our hyperconnected, networked society."
