Notes:
(1) Middle East accents must be hard to do.
- Kevin R. Free's Zia voice sounds Jamaican and Katherine Kellgren's sounds South Asian.
(2) Carter, Sadie and Zia are the only humans with any personality. We don't really spend time with the others.
- So, what deaths we get don't mean anything.
- All we know of Amos is he dresses like a jazz musician.
- The only reason to care about Walt is because Sadie likes him.

Notes:
(1) The Apis Bull is just an excuse for characters to say "bull" repeatedly.
- Better than schist, not as good as dam.
(2) "[Zia] started muttering, and I could've sworn she said, "Dung balls. Time to roll the dung balls."'
- At a certain point, possibly this is it, Riordan stopped making current pop culture references and went strictly early 1980s.
- "Time to make the donuts" is a Dunkin' Donuts tagline, FYI.

Notes:
(1) Carter: "It seemed incredible that not even a year bad passed since Sadie and I first arrived at Brooklyn House, completely clueless about our heritage and our powers. Now we were running the place—training an army of young magicians."
- I know this is meant as a humble-brag, but it's one of my biggest problems with this series.
- I mean, even Harry Potter was five years in before he got to train his army.

Notes:
(1) People wonder why I rated this series so low the first time I read it. Well, for several reasons, but I'll speak to one that came to mind just now.
- I just finished "The Throne of Fire," and for the life of me, I wouldn't be able to explain the plot.
- I understand they want to resurrect Ra to defeat Apophis, but how? and why? The logic of the adventure is as much a mystery now as it was before I started.
