(1) I didn't know it was possible, but Kevin R. Free's English accent is even worse than "The Red Pyramid"!
- Granted, Sadie's lost some of her accent staying in America so long, so some tweaking was justified, but the result is horrifying!
(2) Sadie continues to have crushes on boys that look like her brother.
- Not that they're doppelgangers but, at least initially, they're described in comparison to Carter.

(1) "Then a lot of things happened at once."
- Well, that's every Riordan battle scene in a nutshell.
(2) "I ran my fingers over the title: "Blackley’s Survey of the Sciences for First-Year College, Twelfth Edition." Then I opened the book. On the inside cover, a name was written in lovely cursive: "Ruby Kane."
- That's a typo. Unless Ruby got married as a college freshman, her name would have been Ruby Faust.

(1) The Bes/Tawaret subplot is one of the few things I remember from my first read of the series. Not for any positive reasons, but because of how cringy and fan-fiction if felt.
- This re-read hasn't shifted my opinion at all.
(2) Tawaret: "I also protected mothers giving birth—"
Carter: "Because you’re pregnant?"
Tawaret: "No. Why would you think that?"
- Has Carter never seen a hippo? They're all like that.

(1) Please don't give Kevin R. Free more accents to do. His English accent is bad enough, but his Russian accent is new levels of horrible.
- Accents aside, he also can't pronounce Pikachu properly. I mean, this was 2011, how did people not know how to pronounce Pikachu?
(2) So, turns out that Walt and Jaz weren't actually a couple.
- Still, everyone assumed they were, so my previous point about Carter stands.

(1) Bes: "Two young people traveling alone through Egypt… a boy and a girl. It'll look strange."
Sadie: "I’ll just say Walt's my brother."
- Ah, the old Abraham and Sarah trick. The thing to do whilst travelling through Egypt, apparently.
- And people call me crazy when I suggest there might be a slight incestuous undercurrent to this series. The guy Sadie has the hots for, she wants to pretend is her brother.

Notes:
(1) Carter pushing Sadie into a relationship with Walt makes sense, since her other object of affection is Anubis, god of funerals. Though, it's still awkward for a number of reasons.
- Walt already has a girlfriend, Jaz, who's in a coma. So, Carter's being awful scummy to her.
- Carter is, admittedly, living vicariously through Walt, since Zia treated him like Sadie treats Walt. Problem is Sadie's his sister.

(1) Liz: "Isn't there a more polite term we're supposed to use nowadays? Like…little person, or vertically challenged, or—"
Bes: "I'm not going to call myself the god of vertically challenged people, I’m a dwarf!"
- I agree, dwarves are creatures of myth, like giants.
- Also, it makes no sense for height to determine a person's patron god. Sure, being short's an attribute, but it's fixed and can't be enhanced.

Notes:
(1) Like "The Red Pyramid," I have virtually no memory of this book.
- I wouldn't be able to tell you what happened here or which supporting characters make appearances.
- Frankly, I just finished "The Red Pyramid" and I'd have a hard time summarizing the plot.
(2) So, "The Throne of Fire"? Hmm, yet another MG/YA adventure where the title's about things burning.
- Catching Fire, Goblet of Fire, Burning Maze...
