Deftly written, but I'm only mildly intrigued. There seem to be a lot of foregone conclusions. But I like the subtle parsing of the underlying tensions between the white doctors and charity workers and their African counterparts. Also, the way the book explores the colonialist sentiment, the desire to confront the Other.
