I've picked up this book once again. Elizabeth is still in Italy and she is eating her feelings away with gelato every morning and beautiful spreads of bread, meat, and cheese. I infer my character is indulging so hard to make up for her messy divorce and the loneliness she is feeling from not having a partner by her side. She is living in a foreign country alone, after all.

During her pending divorce with her husband, she meets a man named David who she falls desperately in love with. Over time, he becomes more distant from her as she becomes more and more dependent and he eventually leaves her. She finds that every time she becomes more confident and independent, he comes back and the cycle repeats. Eventually she finds an Indian spiritual leader and she leaves him for good.
