Notes:
(1) We get the answer to why the Vampyres insisted on acquiring hydraulic technology.
- It's quite clever. Callback reveals are the best.
(2) By the end, all the sidebar lore converges with the plot.
- It's nice to know that it wasn't all just worldbuilding.
(3) It's revealed that Wynd is a kind of messiah, culmination of prophecy.
- He's more Moses-like every issue.

Notes:
(1) Haughty and petulant Prince Yorik really can flip a switch and turn on the charm when matters of diplomacy are at hand.
- Must be very well practiced. Trained from birth and so forth.
(2) I don't know why Wynd and Yorik are obsessed with this guy Thorn. Of all the main characters, he has the least personality.
- We don't even know for sure that he's actually gay.

Notes:
(1) Here, royalty all have blue lips and eyelids.
- Whether this is genetic or done with makeup is not yet known. Sweating it out in the wild should sort it out soon enough.
(2) The vampyres trade their services for access to hydraulic technology.
- Though, I don't know why they would need it since they have submarines, and presumably all its prerequisite technology.

Notes:
(1) The first book was about as expected. Could had done with more twists and turns and less chatting, but I suppose personalities needed to be established.
- It'll be interesting to see whether they deviate from it in any way. I find sequels either continue straight ahead or experiment a bunch.
(2) I do expect more magic now that they've escaped the anti-magic city.
