I have always appreciated a good western that doesn't play fast&loose with the real horrors of what happened on the 'frontier'. This novel reads so well…& rings true with the sounds of a Sharps rifle & the death throes of the American bison! It reeks with authenticity; I almost see John Wayne or James Stewart riding tall in the saddle!
