Stilted language but fascinating to read the words of someone major who was actually there and lived through it. Too bad he cuts off descriptive material other than bare minimum and that he gives unending [and boring] names of knights at particular conferences. He writes motivations for their being diverted from the Holy Land as he sees them.

Sieges and sack of Constantinople only a small part of Geoffrey's Chronicles. I'm confused with all these Alexiuses [Byzantine Emperors]. I've got Isaac straight. Interesting how the guy who grabbed power was thrown off a column finally, fulfilling a prophecy. Battles and taking of other cities goes on and on.
