If you have taken an introduction to linguistics course, then skip the first chapter ("Humanspeak"). Holy moly. Suuuuper basic stuff about linguistics. Just go straight to the last section of the first chapter ("Airplanes and Eagles") and pretend that was the first chapter. :)
