I'm done with the book
I think that even though the author, Lois Lowry, did not specify if Jonas ended up alive or dead, I think he lived. I think this because he made it back to the house where there were people to take care of him.

In the book, people are forced into marriages. I feel that this is wrong. I don't think that it fair to a person to marry someone that they are not in love with. The whole point of marriage is to be with the person you love form hen est of your life.

The Giver takes place in a utopian society. A utopia is a place were everything is perfect. In other words, it is heaven. I think if we lived in a utopia, life would become boring. Everyone and everything would seem the same. This means the world would have no diversity.

The book, The Giver, is placed in a world different from ours. Mothers are not allowed to have their own children. The birth mothers have to give birth to the children. The people to not get to choose who to marry, they are forced to marry someone. Also the job you have to have for the rest of your life is given to you at age twelve.
