Just in the last 100 pages has this book gotten hard to put down. Not that the first approx. 200 weren’t engaging, just a lot of storybuilding and exposition. The world, built around death and light magic seeping from the bodies of gods into the land, is fascinating. I get the feeling this series also skews toward second book syndrome, which could explain the pacing of book one.
