Maud Hart Lovelace writes with such a beautiful, poignant sense of understanding what it means to grapple with letting go of your childhood. I absolutely loved the passage about Betsy thinking about Joe, running through how she sees him and why. It almost made me cry.

I really forgot how dated of a character Betsy can be. I feel like I remember her being much more progressive for her time, but honestly the chapter with her and Tacy discussing how Tib needs to get married soon just made me…sad.
