It would be wrong of me to say that this is the most captivating read I have ever read. But it stands out as, the book I wish I could write. Celine's writing is purely masterful. It is vulgar, dark, haunting yet beautiful, sad and true. I don't know how he does it. Utterly captivating. Imagine Proust, Beckett, Hemingway and Hubert Selby Jr in a bar fight.
