Scarlett realizes why Ashley doesn't want to marry her: she never showed any true affection towards him. She would always go out with the Tarleton twins and Cade Calvert as well. This probably led Mr. Ashley to believe that Scarlett either didn't have any desire to have a relationship with him or that she wasn't very loyal. My question is, why did Scarlett not just commit to a relationship with Ashley?
