i still can’t get over how emotionally swaying this book is, the author is so in love with aspects of her childhood that it’s pushed so much into her writing that you the reader are admiring it and just feel safe but then the author makes a point of providing something to get rid of the rose colored glasses and it’s heart breaking but so moving. it really gives perspective on her life and her traumas. fantastic

i actually have fallen in love with this book so far, the descriptions transport you into the story and the characters are so tangible you feel like you can just reach out and touch them. the dysfunction in Jeannette’s family is so present but not adresses head on that it feels even more real and helps you understand the amount of denial she’s in as she lives through it. i love love love this book so far. :)
