It seems like bad event after bad event keeps happening to Dolores. Her approach to starting college was admirable, because despite her fear she tried to make friends because she knew it would have made her mom happy.

Dolores lives with her Grandmother, and her mother is sometimes there and sometimes not. She has just started school with the girls from her neighborhood who bully her. This book is very unique; the characters are all unexpected and they do out of the ordinary things.
