# 4Jace gets kidnapped and Clary has to go save him with her werewolf companions. Well, I feel bad for the wolves. Clary has grown on me a little, but she still has little to no personality. She doesn't seem to have a lot of flaws either, making her even more unrelatable.

#3 Clare pulls a huge cliche; Clary's memories before meeting the Shadowhunters were 'locked away' and she looks to various warlocks in order to help unlock them. My speculation that the author's wishy-washy on the protagonist's personality was correct. One moment, Clary is calm and understanding, but the next she is short-tempered and narrow-minded. I'm scared to read on.

#2 Clary Fray is introduced to the supernatural. So far, she doesn't know where her mom is. She meets Jace Herondale, a Shadowhunter, who I presume is her love interest. The first 20 pages or so hooked me, but now I'm not sure I trust the author with her characters. For example, she starts off describing Clary as "shy," but Clary isn't shy at all. This makes me uneasy as to how the characters will develop later on.
