Although the world building does leave you having to fill blanks with your imagination I don’t believe it takes away from the story. I also love the disability, trans, and bi-gender rep in this. All 3 things are treated with an understanding of struggle while the main characters are 100% accepting of one another

I keep reading trans high fantasy some how. Like it’s not not on purpose but just the way they view being trans in this is very similar to in the Sunbearer trials and I find that surprising. Although they do have to hide it in this book but that’s for a different reason
