so far it reads like fanfiction. whether that's good or bad, I'm not sure. but Im certainly enjoying it (I think that's because Suz has been reading it out loud to me gently before I fall asleep)

It reads like fanfiction indeed! Quite the adventure as you never know what analogy lurks around the corners of the descriptions used for Achilles
"his skin was the colour of just-pressed olive oil, and smooth as polished wood" and "a voice like ice-melted streams" and "the sound was pure and sweet as water, bright as lemons. [...] it had warmth as a fire does, a texture and weight like polished ivory" to name a few
