Dudley is very spoiled. If he doesn't get what he wants he complains about it. For example, "Thirty-six... that's two less than last year (21)." This shows that he is spoiled because 36 presents is a lot and 2 less than last year isn't that many less.

Ron is a very silly person. He tries to impress people but it ends up failing. Harry is able to understand this, so they will definitely become friends. For example "Sunshine, daisies, butter mellow, Turn this stupid, fat rat yellow" (104). This shows that Ron is silly and funny.

Harry knows little about the magically world. He doesn't know what quidditch is or what a mud blood is. For example, Harry said "Hagrid, what's Quidditch (79)?" This shows that Harry knows little about the other world.

One example of figurative language in my book was a simile. "Questions exploded inside Harry's head like fireworks and he couldn't decide which to ask first (52)." This Metaphor is describing how Harry felt when Hagrid told him that he was a wizard and that he was famous.

Uncle Vernon never quits. Whenever Harry got a letter Vernon tried everything possible to avoid it getting into Harry's hands. For example, "We are going away. Just pack some clothes. No arguments (41)!" This shows how much Uncle Vernon is trying to keep the letter away from Harry so he doesn't find out anything.
