Lockwood: “You’re keeping secrets again, and any agent who does that is endangering the rest of us. I’m not having anyone on my team who can’t be trusted.”

Also Lockwood: *doesn’t tell them his suspicions about Fairfax, doesn’t tell them he went undercover, doesn’t tell them he called DEPRAC for backup, doesn’t tell them he planned to smuggle in flairs, etc etc etc*

Okay I *had* made the connection between Ophelia drowning and the monks dying in a well, right? And then Lucy almost throwing herself in the well before Lockwood pulls her back. Despair and hopelessness and *drowning*, specifically. Surely I realized that right???

I should read Narnia after this, then I’d have read three stories with Lucy protagonists. I wonder how many more there are?

I love how it didn’t occur to any of them to call the police when their house is being actively burglarized. Slay.

I’m already 30% through. I love short books. (Also I’m highlighting in yellow every time Lucy mentions Lockwood’s smile) (for no reason in particular)

Yes, yes, I am finally rereading once again. I’m so excited.

And I just noticed that the first ghost Lucy saw was a girl who had drowned herself for love, just like Ophelia (right?). There’s Ophelia/Hamlet imagery and references later on so that’s very interesting! I love how tightly plotted and themed these books are.

“Maybe not, but I could sure as hell turn the tap” see? This is my third time reading and I still laughed. Also shout out to Lockwood’s little pep talk after she told him about the mill incident. I love it SO much. The past is for ghosts!!!!! <333 so much of these books are about HEALING and moving ON and living and the FUTURE and you KNOW???? Yeah :)

So, yeah. Lockwood’s reasoning for not telling the other two his suspicions was that he didn’t want them chickening out and not going through with the job. He needed to do the job to get the money to keep his company going. Yeah. Jerk. He really shouldn’t have done that, but oh well. Lucky him, it worked out.
