Didn’t notice it as much in the first two but his overuse of superlatives, vague yet verbose adjectives and adverbs is grating. Example: someone had been to a lecture and “taken exquisite, meticulous notes.” I can only imagine the author is the kind of person who froths over fountain pens and gently strokes his leather bound moleskin with his eyes closed to write something like this.
