Notes:
(1) This is actually one of the later books in IDW's "Back to the Future" run, but it's unrelated to the others, which is why I'm choosing to read it now instead of at the end.
(2) As far as I'm aware, this story is 100% canon. It takes place during "Back to the Future, Part II" after Biff steals the DeLorean, and tells the story of how the dystopian 1985 came about.

Notes:
(1) Seemingly all open questions from the movies relating to Biff and the dystopian Hill Valley are answered here.
- You find out why Biff was raised by his Grandmother instead of his parents, why Doc Brown was committed, even how Nixon ran for a 5th term.
(2) I think the rather cartoony art style is why this series was able to get away with darker scenes and themes.

Notes:
(1) This gets a lot darker than the movies ever were.
- You see murders and dead bodies, for example.
(2) Issue #2 is Hollywood themed and features appearances from Marilyn Monroe, John Wayne and Ronald Reagan among others.
- It's the weakest issue so far. While fun, these cameos are pretty empty in in terms of advancing the story, considering the space they take up.
