I am on 15%. Curzon is very brave. There were 2 choices he could've made. He could've went to war for either 3 years or the rest of the war. Even though Eben told him to go for 3 years he chose to go for the rest of the war. When the sergeant asked what he wanted to do Eben quickly responded "Three Years! Only a fool would sign up for that." This shows that it was a brave choice to go for the whole war.

i am 38% done. Eben is a giving man. Him and Curzon cooked some pumpkins and were going to eat them. But before they ate them Eben said "We really have to share it with the others, don't we"(34%)? It was very thoughtful of him to do this and a great thing to do.

Laurie Anderson uses figurative langage in the later part of 29%. When Curzon was talking about the weather he used a simile. Though it is still winter and snowy he says "...but it was as nice as the finest day in July"(29%). This means hat it was oddly a really nice day out and it was a day that looked like a different season.

i am at 29%. Laurie Anderson used figurative language when she was talking about washerwomen. She uses a simile saying "Screeching like a scalded cat"(26%). When she says this she is talking about a washerwomen that stole food. The officer ran her off. When she was running away from the two army men she was screaming.

I am at 24%. Cursor is very carrying. He has been split up with Isabel for a while now. Though he hasn't seemed to care he said "It was Harder than ever to soldier my thoughts about her" 22%. This proves that he cares for Isabel and misses her

I am at 20%. Cursor is a very optimistic man. He always tries to look on the bright side. For example, he says "Earned myself a few splinters in my backside, but kept my boots dry and my spirits high"(17%). This proves that he is optimistic and always tries to think of the good things and not the bad ones.

I am at 17%. Curzon is a thankful man. Though the army was not a paying job for him, it was in harsh conditions, and it was dangerous, Curzon was thankful that he was supplied with needed things. "I had a blanket, boots, and a musket. Sleeping with five fellows was a bit of a challenge..., but at least it was worm enough"(15%). this proves that curzon is thankful that he has supplies and shelter.

I am at 13%. the sergeant is a repaying man. he stood up for Curzon because Curzon got accused of stealing something. When he was talking with the Curzon and Trumbull, the guy that lost his stuff, he told them "He was occupied yesterday"(12%). This shows that he stood up for Curzon and relayed him for saving Ebenezer.

I am at 10%. Curzon is a very honorable man. His dad died at Breed's hill and his dad had a hat that he gave to Curzon. Curzon has kept the hat close to him for that reason. "But that had been my father's hat,…I'd worn it on my head since the day the redcoats shot Father at Breed's Hill"(9%). This proves he is honorable because he could have just forgotten about his father and just not worn the hat. But he didn't.

My inference is that the theme of the book is going to be freedom is something you take for granted and you should treasure it. Curzon and Isabel just crossed the river and they are now "free"."We are free!"(1%) thought Curzon. They had to work so hard to get their freedom and we just get it when we are born. Most people take it for granted and they are not as thankful as they should be about they freedom.
