Imagine not being able to see your parents from the time you were three. Well thats what happened to Boobie Miles.He moved from foster home to foster home.The worst part was his parents were both alive. "There was abuse in the house" (62). His dad was a bad role model and changes were made.

Permain high school lost a hard fought game in the semifinals of the state tournament. Although it was a bitter defeat, they learned other valuable lessons. The coach said in a speech, "You guys have showed great leadership and I love all of you guys"(335). This shows that the team went from a team of individuals to a team where everyone was part of their amazing run.

In the book, the kids have caused so much trouble in school that the teachers don't even want to teach anymore. "Not a teacher tried to stop them. One time Gary got written up, sent to the principal, and when he came back he didn't even care"(292). This shows why most teachers wouldn't want to help out the kids.

The book Friday Night Lights uses many examples of figurative language including similes. For example, "There were hugs and bear sized claps on the backs of letter jackets that reverberated like yells in a tunnel"(260). This proves that the book uses figurative language.

Boobie Miles really wanted to play in his first in a year. "... If I suit up I will have to play but if not then I don't have to risk getting injured.... I have to suit up and play in the game"(197). Sure enough he did suit up and get in the game. This shows the determination that Boobie had to get back in the game.

The coaching staff for the Permian football team don't care about their players, especially Boobie Miles (best player) . The coaches call him,"lazy, stupid, shiftless and selfish and just another lazy bumb to our team. All of that happened because he was hurt and didn't want to play.
