The story of a young man raised on the streets of Harlem is timeless save for some of the language. However, I like the progression of the writer's style as he transitions to manhood. I would be remiss if I didn't mention my disappointment with the depiction of black women as b*tches and wh*res. I'll reserve further comment until I finish the book.
