How effective could this in-school suspension have possibly been if they were letting you read Judy Blume?

I loved Judy Blume as a kid but for some reason missed this one. Read it for the first time a few years ago. Held up well!
Andrew: As long as you finished your homework in in-school suspension at my middle school, the rest of the time was yours to spend however you wanted. Back then there wasn’t all this crappy censorship!
