Unhealthy food usually costs less. Nicotine=energy; useful for terrible long days of work. And maintaining chronic conditions requires healthcare access that many do not have. Not unreasonable ideals, but so tone-deaf and ignorant of reality.

I don't think the CDC's pre-pregnancy recs are totally nuts. Most of them are common sense healthy lifestyle choices. HOWEVER, in order to get people to be able to comply, there needs to be a serious overhaul of our economic system. People aren't going to pay for supplements they don't need if they don't have money.
