Recently in Slam, the book has a different tone to it. It is now more of a serious tone then a entertaining tone. The story is less about basketball and more about his grades and his grandma. He is also starting to recognize the more important parts of life and the people that mean more to him than others.

Slam is a very interesting book. I like how they get into detail about how much he practices to make it to the big leagues or even his own high school basketball team. He has a lot of problems during basketball season that will challenge his need to succeed. He is also getting into trouble with his teammates and other school mates. He will have to earn his spot on the team.
