So, your teenage daughter skips school with a boy, and is caught shoplifting, and you don't ground her? There is no punishment of any kind? Sure, she's not the one that took the CD, BUT she did skip school. With a guy. A guy that ditched her for not putting out and left her stranded at a party without a ride home. And there are no consequences for her bad behavior? Yeah, that's the perfect way to deal with it.

Iris wakes up the day after and it's Friday? She goes to work, takes Ally to school? But it's supposed to be Saturday not Friday. The day before she told her boss she couldn't stay late because she had things to do for the Carnival tomorrow. She bakes the cookies that night. As she's finishing them she mentally runs by the list she needs to do "tomorrow". Bit of an inconcistency there.

So she decides to call it a day and go home from work after lunch. And in the previous chapter, her boss asks her to stay later that day because they need some numbers for the presentation the next day. Yeah, bosses are totally okay with that! *ends sarcasm*
