The narrator continues to have constant flashbacks to her former life before a handsmaid. She is extremely anxious and constantly worries about ever seeing Luke, her daughter, and Aunt Lydia. As a handsmaid, the narrator is forced to have sexual intercourse with men, in hope for a baby. If she fails, she receives a harsh consequence. I am beginning to question the government and it's intentions under immoral values.

So far, I am very interested in the novel's plot. As I continue to read, I learn more about the narrator who is a Handmaid, which is a servant. Because of her title/rank, she is forced by society to distant herself from everyone else, including her past connections with Luke and her friend, Moira.
There are many women like her that dress in red and submit to the orders of the commanders.
