What the--?! Guy tells his querying brother that he won't tell his employee he's interested in him, but then guy, within hours, calls said employee "baby"? Okay, this is just silly. Not promising. I'm moving on.

Super awkward prose for a professionally published novel. So far, it reads like a junior attempt at a novel. Excellent set up, keen emotions, but really blunt and "let me tell you how it is"--no subtlety, overly simplified. I'll give it a couple more chapters.
