Approaching the end of this exciting biography! More emphasis on sacrifice but also the reward of chasing a dream and making it com true. Apolo's dad must have been super strong raising a kid all on his own then watching him set records and become an american symbol and super athlete. Also, I like in this book that Apolo is proud of his accomplishments he doesn't try to be overly modest about what he has worked for.

Apolo goes deeply into his life/ profession. Reading this book has educated me not only in speed skating but in the highly complex world of a professional. I have a great respect and admiration for people in this line of work.

Apolo talks about fear and how in speed skating (or any sport) fear can over power your performance and make you weaker. This section related back to his earlier chapters that focused on the power of though and visualization. From reading this book I realize these skills that develop strong focus are just as important as the physical training that is done to prepare for events such as the olympics.

Apolo struggles with the realities of growing up in such a competitive sport. But he celebrates his olympic victories. This book has taught me a lot of life lessons such as living every day to the fullest and making zero regrets.

This next section of the book includes some photos of Apolo with narration and captions. Seeing how much this guy commits to speed skating and training is wild. I had no idea that his entire life revolves around his career. Crazy as this is Mr. Ohno always includes a dash of humor and a lot of joy when discussing his life. Being successful and really happy is a triumph in itself and Apolo acknowledges that.

Apolo talks about the physical toll skating takes on your body. The amazing thing about this book is how much he always stresses the importance of pursuing your dreams (even if you don't hope to become an olympic speed skater) A lot of lessons from this story can be applied to life. I can't wait to keep reading

Apolo discusses 'finding emotion' skating and runs through a typical day. Many of the skills and lessons Apolo applies to skating he also utilizes in everyday life as he empowers the reader to do the same. Throughout this biography Mr. Ohno tries very hard to put some story behind his victories. It's becoming increasingly clearer that this book isn't just a tribute to the most dedicated winter olympian in history.

Apollo talks about the deep bond between his father and himself. Hearing the hardships that Yuki had to go through as a kid makes me thankful for all the support I feel from my parents. Yuki worked for everything himself and was extremely self-motivated. This type of motivation the Apollo describes empowers me to shoot for my dreams and put forth the effort to make them come true.

I've always admired apolo from a far but this book gets up close and personal with Mr. Ohno. So far the message has been that you don't have to be a speed skater to understand hard work, compassion and dedication. Apolo talks about his deep connection with his father and the importance of surrounding yourself with those who care about you.
