Sorry but this book is not a novel, it’s an argument and too thinly veiled for me to continue with. Normally I persevere with Shriver as you could claim all her novels are dramatisations of knotty issues, but this hadn’t the saving graces of the others: all the characters were unlikeable and the pace was simply too slow.
