I think Tris has trouble figuring out who she is. In Divergent she says she insurgent but she was divergent. this means that she had inner conflict. She says " I am tired of being tris, I have done bad things, and I can't take them back, and they are who I am, most of the time there are all I am." This means that she is having trouble figuring out who she is.

I think self-discovery is the theme. Many times in the book tris and Tobias have inner conflict and figure out who they are through their decisions. tris says " in order to give my life in exchange Wills, in exchange for my parents; I needed to die, but I was wrong; I need to live in the lights of their death. I need to live" this means that she realizes these deaths weren't her fault and she needs to live her life.

Tris wakes up from a dream and realizes Caleb, Marcus, Tobias, Peter, and her need to go to Amityville. The only problem standing in their way is Johanne Reyes. Tris says " she would have been a beautiful women without that scar on her face". This shows that Tris is up for the challenge and is not afraid of her.

They are still recovering from the night before. Tris is upset about will and her parents death. Tobias still remains the strong one in the group. They are having trouble settling in the Amity ways. They find it hard too because it is free of any violence
