At the end of TKAM I learned who the true mockingbirds are in the story. Jem and Tom Robinson show bliss innocence when they are shocked by the outcome of the trial. Jem is scarred, therefore killing his mockingbird. Tom on the other hand, trusted that Atticus's defense would save him from going to prison for a crime he didn't commit. Although the end of the book is not happy there is closure in each of the subplots.

Recently in To Kill a Mockingbird Mr. Cunningham came with a mob to kill Tom Robinson. This was their form of justice. Scout, who did not understand what was happening, was very polite to him and he backed down. The next day, the trial begins and Atticus is very strategic during court.
