One of the themes of this book is to prove people wrong if they think of you badly. In the book, Willow moved to a new school and she had to take a test given by the state and she got the highest grade in the school. The teachers think that she cheated and say," What would you think about taking the test again..."(64)? Willow says yes. This proves that teachers are doubting her and she is proving them wrong.

In this book, Willow is talking about how everything ends but there is something else waiting to happen. She states," And endings are always the beginnings of something else"(107). This quote means that everything ends but there is always something to look forward to. This applies to life because many things end as you get older but there are many new opportunities and things to succeed.

Willow is very intelligent. In the book, Willow is trying to get out of P.E. by being friends with the nurse so the can discuss scientific things instead of playing volleyball. She states," I knew the nurse, Miss Judi, liked me because we discussed things like flu outbreaks and the statistics behind spontaneous nosebleeds"(93). This shows that Willow is intelligent because she is as smart as a professional nurse.

Willow got blamed for cheating on a test by the principle and at the end of their meeting, the text said, " The principle, unable to prove the deception, but certain that it had happened, finally let me go"(37). This is a synonym context clue and the word deception means lying.

In the prologue of this book, the narrator is basically saying that nobody is perfect. They say," Every person has a lot of ingredients to make them into what is always a one-of-a-kind creation. We are all imperfect genetic stews"(prologue). The author is comparing everyone to imperfect genetic stews because we are all not perfect and all make mistakes in life. Also, we are all different just like stews.
