Louie is taking awful beatings everyday, and nobody can do anything to help him. Other captives are making stealing look simple and have even started a "stealing school".

Louie and others were transfered to an actual POW camp, Omori, were a Corporal, Watanabe, is one of the most feared Japanese in all the land. He is notorious for beating POWs and then apologize right after. He is growing an obsession over Louie.

The Allies are closer and closer to defeating Japan, but this could be bad, as Japan is enforcing a kill-all order if they lose. This means Japan will kill all their POWs should they lose the war.

The officers on the island are incredibly stupid, which means the captives get to have a little fun with them. They start secretly talking, stealing food and newspapers, and teasing the officers.

Louie and Phil were put in shacks and interrogated on a small island. Now they are at another island in which the outside world is unaware. In other words, Red Cross can't help the captives and regulate the POW camp.

Louie has found an island, yet it doesn't get him far. He and Phil are captured by Japanese boaters.

The three men have been stranded for over three weeks now. They are still looking for a sign to save them.
