the different viewpoints allow for more perspectives. I said this because the book talks from two different perspectives, Quinn and Rashad. They have different stories but they kind of know each other. But each chapter starts with their perspective. “Rashad: Custody” (Reynolds 43). and then “Quinn: On Friday nights…” (Reynolds 24). This allows for the author to show different varieties of the story.

Adversity impacted the way people viewed Rashad completely. Suddenly people at school started talking about him. The lady who tripped over him viewed him differently: “‘I just wanted to say I’m sorry about everything that is happened, I mean that is happening.’ She blinked hard” (Reynolds 241). Maybe it’s out of putty but a lot of people are staring to view Rashad differently because of his adversity.

“You didn’t deserve this. Your not a criminal” (Reynolds 193). Rashads mom believes her son and is fighting for him even if at the beginning we weren’t sure.
