So many care packages to alleviate post-war rationing!! And it's fascinating (knowing what we know) to look back on CSL's comments on Joy's visit. She stayed a lot longer than he expected! She was a TALKER, from morn to night, it was EXHAUSTING! And she responded to his complaints about the winter with assurances that winters in New York were MUCH WORSE. (Weeks after she left, he was still harping on this.)
